The Lu Xun Art Academy moved to Shenyang in 1948 during the third national revolutionary war and changed its name to the Lu Xun Art Academy of the Northeast. In 1953, the Musical Technical School of the Northeast was founded on the base of the academy's music department and was renamed Shanyang Conservatory of Music.
With the preparations beginning in April 1981, the Social Conservatory of Music was finally set up in December 1984 in Beijing. Initiated by the Central Philharmonic Orchestra and associated with the Central Folk Orchestra of China and the Opera and Drama Theatre of China, the conservatory subsidized the central philharmonic orchestra.
In 1953, the Northwest Art Academy instigated a readjustment by combining the music department and the fine art department into the Northwest Technical School of Art. The Xi'an Technical School of Music was founded in 1956 at the site of the school's music department, changing its name to the Xi'an Conservatory of Music in 1960.
Located in the No 255 Jiefang Road ofWuhan, the Wuhan Conservatory of Music aims to nurture special musical talents. The conservatory boasts a distinguished history with its forerunner, the music department of the Wuchang Technical School of Art, founded in 1928.
